how do i remove files from mac but keep them on icloud

Nor do I want to continue to have the things I do and create go to the cloud. I don't want to use it, but I can't find out how to get into the folders that are in Cloud for my documents and all the rest, in order to move them out. Sierra was already installed on my new computer (MacBook Pro with Retina Display, 2016), and when I transferred my older computer's contents to it via Migration Assistant, I wasn't asked about the cloud, at all, and I don't want to use it, but it appears that everything (or just about everything) from my older computer is there, not on the newer hard drive.
